Power of passion and dedication

In the delicate dance between lightness and transparency, Rémy Samuz, the contemporary Beninese artist, weaves a narrative that invites contemplation and reflection. Born in 1982 in Cotonou, Benin, Samuz's artistic journey is a testament to the transformative power of passion and dedication.

From a young age, Samuz found joy in manipulating iron materials, crafting miniature sculptures, and breathing life into characters. Despite societal skepticism, his persistence and love for art led him to pursue formal training in fine arts under the guidance of the renowned Beninese painter and sculptor Dominique Zinkpè. Samuz's background as a machinist, mastering metal with precision, blended seamlessly with his artistic endeavors.

Rémy Samuz finds delight in the profound

Central to Samuz's artistry is his unique method of weaving wire, creating sculptures that embody both rigidity and lightness, with faces expressing profound human emotions.

Samuz's artistic odyssey has transcended borders, captivating audiences in France, Brazil, Senegal, and beyond. His collaboration with the VALLOIS GALLERY in Paris and OOA GALLERY in Barcelona further catapulted his international recognition. In 2017, he was honored with the Gold Medal in the sculpture category at the "Jeux de la Francophonie" in Abidjan.

Beyond the accolades, Samuz remains grounded in his mission. His art delves into themes of meditation, unity, and the collective vision needed to propel society forward. Each piece, crafted with meticulous care, reflects not only the artist's technical brilliance but also his profound understanding of the human condition.

In a world often overshadowed by existential angst, Samuz stands as a beacon of optimism. His creations, infused with dignity and humility, celebrate the nuances of life, from moments of joy to the complexities of societal challenges. As he continues to weave his narratives, we are reminded of the power of art to inspire, provoke, and, above all, unite. Here's to Rémy Samuz, the artist who finds delight in the profound, and in doing so, enriches our shared human experience.
